Board Highlights: Update on Cardinal Health West

Board of Education Approves Resolution to Enter into a Purchase Agreement

At the May 23, 2024 Board of Education meeting, our district’s Chief Operating Officer presented a resolution to enter into a purchase agreement with Cardinal Health. The resolution, which was approved by the Board, concerns the acquisition of the Cardinal Health West building, located at 7200 Cardinal Place.

The agreement authorizes the District to purchase the Cardinal Health West building after an acceptable due diligence period. During the due diligence period, Dublin City Schools will determine if Cardinal Health West meets the following conditions:

  • The site is suitable for educational use and receives zoning approval accordingly
  • The building and land pass all necessary inspections
  • The building can be effectively configured to serve as an educational institution
  • The acquisition aligns with the district's long-term goals strategically and financially

The due diligence period is 365 days. At any point during this time, the District may terminate the agreement for any or no reason at all and receive a full refund of any deposits made. If the District does not terminate the agreement, the purchase will move forward.

Parallel to this evaluation period, district leaders are partnering with Planning Next, a third-party expert, to conduct more than 20 focus group sessions. The objective of the focus groups is to measure sentiments toward various scenarios that would address projected high school growth. The insights gathered from these focus groups will be summarized and shared with the community this summer.

In addition, a survey will be distributed this fall to gather further input on the community's aspirations regarding high school growth and development. The district values the community's feedback and looks forward to engaging with stakeholders throughout this process.
