PSAT Information for Middle School

Dublin City Schools is committed to providing students experience and exposure to college readiness assessments. On Jan. 26, all 8th grade students will be given the PSAT 8/9 assessment at no cost to the student. The PSAT 8/9 is the first in the series of SAT suite of assessments through the CollegeBoard.

All 8th grade students, including RLA students, will attend a full day of in-person school on Jan. 26 from 9:00 am to 3:30 p.m.

All 6th and 7th grade students will be participating in a virtual asynchronous learning day, and will not physically attend school in person on this day, nor log into their Google Meets. Students will receive guidance from their teachers prior to this asynchronous learning day for work to be completed.

For 8th grade parents only

In order to safely administer the PSAT 8/9 to all 8th grade students, all students will be operating on a modified schedule and students will be attending school from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

If your child is currently enrolled in the Remote Learning Academy, please complete the following form by Jan. 19, 2021 to indicate participation and transportation needs by clicking here

Additional information about pick up/drop off times and location will be shared with those families who request transportation and with hybrid students who typically ride a bus since we will be operating on a modified schedule. Lunch will be provided free of cost to all students. All students and teachers will follow appropriate social distancing requirements ensuring students have a safe testing environment.

When 8th grade students receive their PSAT 8/9 results, they will also have access to a personalized support plan which includes free online resources that can be accessed at home. These free resources help deepen students’ understanding of what is needed for college and career readiness. The learning resources also provide practice material aligned to the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT which will help to prepare students for further CollegeBoard tests.

Students are not permitted to have any electronics on them during testing. We encourage students to leave their electronic devices at home. Cell phones and smart watches will be collected if brought into the testing environment. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact your school counselor or building administrators.

In addition to the PSAT assessment, 8th grade students will be taking time to begin the scheduling process for high school on this day. Any student who does not attend, will have full access to all of the scheduling information via pre recorded videos. All middle school parents and students are also encouraged to visit the Emerald Campus Virtual Open House & Curriculum Night on Thursday, January 21st, 5 - 8 PM to learn about the programming offered at Emerald Campus as well as through Tolles Career & Technical Center and neighboring colleges. Visit https://sites.google.com/dublinschools.net/ec-open-house for details.

We look forward to continuing our practice of providing all 8th grade students with the opportunity to participate in a college readiness assessment. Your support and collaboration with the modified schedule on Jan. 26 is greatly appreciated.
