ATHLETIC DIRECTOR'S CORNER

The Spring athletic season has come to a close and it was a tremendous success!  Over (250) Sells students represented their school on the Baseball/Softball diamond, Tennis court, Lacrosse field, and the Track this Spring, and we are proud of them all. Almost 40% of the eligible 7th and 8th Grade student population participated in Spring Sports. Close to 65% of all students participated in at least (1) sport this school year! It is great to see a majority of our students benefit from the life lessons that can be learned through sport in our athletic program.

Our Spring athletic season is highlighted by the play of our Lacrosse program. Our 8th Grade Boys team won 10 games, and capped their season with an Ohio State Division 4 Lacrosse Championship! The 7th Grade Boys team had a solid season, winning 5 games. Meanwhile, our 8th Grade Girls Lacrosse team went 9-4-1. The 7th Grade Girls team won 3 games. Congratulations to our Lacrosse program for a great season and continuing our strong lacrosse tradition!

Our Softball program continued its winning ways this season. The 7th Grade team earned a 10-3 record. The 8th Grade team had a successful season, finishing with a 9-7 record. Congratulations to our softball players for an outstanding season.

Our Boys Tennis team had another terrific season. They finished with an 7-5 record against our area’s top competition. Great season, boys!

Our Track and Field program had a fantastic season. They worked hard every day to improve. Many of our athletes finished the seasons with personal best times and distances. The girls team finished with 2 dual meet victories, while the boys team won 3. Notably, we had an outstanding showing at the OHSAA State Track Championships. 6 different athletes qualified for this meet by being among the top 24 competitors in the state of Ohio. Tessa Grady, Ava Krumpak, Hannah Schober, and Angeline Savage qualified for the 4 x 200m Relay, Will McGraw for the 1600m, Tessa for the 200m, and Kylie Feeney qualified for the 1600m and 800m dash. Kylie placed 7th in the state of Ohio for the 1600m dash. What a great finish to a great season!

The Baseball program had a strong season this Spring. The 7th Grade team defeated all Dublin schools en route to a 12-3 record! The 8th Grade team was much improved this year, earning a 9-6 record. Congratulations for a great season, boys!

The mission of Sells Middle School athletics is to provide a safe, fair, and inclusive athletic environment.  The athletic experience is designed to bolster the educational experience at Sells Middle School offering fundamental skill instruction, life skill instruction, character education, and interscholastic competition.

We are looking forward to an equally successful Fall sports season with increased student participation, and continuation of academic and athletic excellence from our student-athletes.
