“30 Years: Celebrating Our Stories” is the theme of the 2019 Dublin Literacy Conference on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Dublin Coffman High School, as the conference will mark its 30th year.
The Dublin Literacy Conference invites educators from around Ohio and surrounding states to spend the day learning from nationally renowned authors, keynote speakers, and Dublin City Schools staff members. Attendees have the opportunity to network and share literacy ideas with their peers.
“With an amazing lineup of authors, we are thrilled to provide an opportunity for teachers to hear the stories of keynote speakers Pam Allyn and Jason Reynolds, along with featured authors Bill Bass, Hena Khan, and Katherine Sokolowski,” said Conference Chair Dr. Jennifer Wolf. “In addition, teachers will have opportunities throughout the day to share, celebrate, and enhance their own professional literacy and learning stories through breakout sessions, many of them presented by our staff.”
In addition to many opportunities for teachers and staff members to learn, the Lit Conference also offers family sessions. This year, a family session featuring author Hena Khan will take place at 9 a.m.. Hena Khan will share her journey, from a reader who was excluded in children's literature to a writer who realized she had stories to share and the ability to help change the industry, and why she believes each of us has a voice that matters.
Similar to the Dublin Leadership Academy held each summer for staff members, the District’s teaching staff plays a key role in planning and preparing the Dublin Literacy Conference. Lit Conference Chair Dr. Jennifer Wolf and conference committee co-chair Aleia Mackensen also play an integral role in the success of the conference.
"The Dublin Literacy Conference is a truly great example of teacher collaboration and collaboration,” said Superintendent Dr. Todd Hoadley. “A big thank you to our hard working staff members who are responsible for 30 years of success.”
