As we enter May, announcements for Fall sports, 2018 will begin coming your way. If your son or daughter is interested in trying out for a fall sport, please register him/her on FinalForms, an online forms and data management service used by the Dublin City Schools’ MS and HS Athletic Departments. On the FinalForms website, you will be able to complete all paperwork electronically as well as access important try out, meeting and competition dates. Please visit the website below to register.
I’m looking forward to seeing many of you over the next week at May Madness events (May 4-May 11) and at our Art Show on May 10th, 6-7:30pm. The art show will feature creations from ALL students who were enrolled in art this school year. Our students have amazing talent and if you haven’t attended in years past, I highly encourage you to stop by and browse the displays. You will not believe the pieces were created by 11, 12, and 13 year olds!
In addition to having an opportunity to view the beautiful student work, families can also grab a snack or dinner from food trucks located in the parking lot during the event. Sounds like a great night to me! See you there.
MAY MADNESS - WE NEED YOU!!!
Thank you all for volunteering for this year's May Madness Event beginning Monday May 4th with Tip Off and ending Friday May 11th with Finals. We are gearing up for another great event! If this is your first year, here is how it works: Grades (6th, 7th, 8th) compete against each other within their grade sections (6-1, 6-2, 7-1, etc.) via individual and team events in a wide variety of games and activities. Points are scored and tallied. At the end of the week, teams compete in finals to crown a 6th, 7th and 8th grade champ! Please see the below dates/times and volunteer for as many slots as you are able...all of your time is greatly appreciated. SCHOOL SUPPLY SALE FOR 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR
Each year, our PTO volunteers work tirelessly to put on a school supply sale that is efficiently run and profitable as their primary fundraiser for the school year. We encourage you to purchase your supplies through PTO. You simply order in advance and then pick up supplies on the Back to School Orientation Day on August 8th. The GirlUP club is hosting a walk-a-thon on Friday May 18 from 4:15-6:00 p.m. on the GMS track. All proceeds will go towards buying bikes for girls in Liberia. A member of the club shared that after a 14 year civil war, more than 40% of girls are not in school. Additionally, 40% of girls aged 15-19 report experiencing physical violence by the age 15. Our Grizzell Middle School PTO subscribes to the MySchoolAnywhere service for our family directory, online store, volunteer signups, and email communications. It's secure, easy to use, and free to families. If you haven't received an email asking you to confirm your information (current 8th grade student families are NOT included, this is for the 2018-2019 school year), you can go to the site below, enter our school's code and follows the steps to register your family. You can specify what information you'd like to appear in the directory - or choose not to appear at all.
Current Families - If you're already registered via Final Forms, you should have received an email asking you to update your family information and display preferences for the 2018-2019 school year. You do not need to register again unless you did not receive the email.

Once we've had a chance to verify your family information, you'll receive an email with login credentials and instructions to access the system.
As a reminder, all potential fall sports athletes must attend tryouts/practices for their respective sport in the Fall prior to the start of the season. This always occurs prior to the start of the school year and this year Fall sports practices/tryouts begin on July 30. Please mark your calendars and plan accordingly so that your child can take advantage of the athletic opportunities offered at GMS! We don’t want anyone to miss the chance to be part of our teams and to represent Grizzell Middle School. GO CELTS!
For parents of all GMS athletes, we would like to remind you that Dublin Schools Athletic Departments have partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management services. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic participation forms for your child. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season to season and year to year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your children, saving you time.

End of Year Events
On May 24th, our 8th graders will have several events to celebrate their middle school years! Please note the following:
8:45 - 10:00 a.m. 8th Grade pancake breakfast (Students only)
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Awards Ceremony (Parents please attend)
Dress Code: Boys: Collared shirts and dress pants
Girls: Dresses, Skirts or nice slacks (no t-shirts or shorts please)
Lunch Students are to either pack or buy lunch
1:00 - 3:00 8th grade Celebration (Students only). Participate in games and a DJ will play favorite songs. We will have snacks and Kona Ice available for Students to enjoy.
