Potential student walkout information
We are aware of a national school walkout day being planned by students in various locations across our country on Wednesday, March 14. These walkouts have been reported to be in honor of the 17 victims of the Florida high school tragedy last month.
The Dublin City Schools Board of Education policy regarding student activities such as this is clear. Therefore, we do not endorse participation in these events during the school day. I have strong relationships with our student leaders and we are engaged in an ongoing dialogue. We have remained in contact regarding these planned walkouts. Again, while the District does not endorse student walkouts, students who choose to participate will not be penalized and student safety will be our top priority should they take place.
We realize these issues can be emotional for students and adults alike. Our teachers and administrators are committed to a productive day of instruction on Wednesday. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
