It’s May Madness time! Your child will have an opportunity over the coming days to sign up for one or more of 23 events over the two week celebration. Everything from dodgeball to pie eating are offered so there is something fun for every interested student.
Thank you to our PTO May Madness chairs, Scott Kilgren, Leslie Ungerott, and Beth Krenzel for all of their hard work organizing the fun event! Although they have done much of the event’s heavy lifting, we still need MANY volunteers to make the it possible for so many students to participate. Please visit the following link to sign up to volunteer. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040b4ea9ad2f4-maymadness1
On Wednesday, May 8th, each student will receive a May Madness t-shirt. Please encourage your child to wear the shirt on Friday, May 10th (our kick off date), the grade level competition day (6th- May 14th, 7th- May 15th, & 8th- May 16th), and finale day- May 17th.
Thanks in advance for all of your support with May Madness. I can’t wait to see you during the event and work alongside you to make the event TONS OF FUN for our kiddos!
Finally, next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. If the opportunity should arise, please take a moment to wish your child’s teachers a good week and thank them for their efforts. We are very fortunate here at GMS to have a wonderful, caring and hardworking staff.
Have a great weekend!

This is a great Dublin community event where friends get to catch up with old teammates on rival high school teams and raise money for a much needed cause.
STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS
On Thursday, May 16, 6th and 7th graders will vote on election day for next year's Student Council officers. We are seeking candidates as future leaders, running for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. They will serve the 2019-2020 school year joined by team representatives elected in the fall. This student-led group serves its school and community, so we need our next set of leaders to chart that course. Interested students may complete a petition, available outside room 252. Petitions to run are due by Tuesday, May 14.

As a reminder, all potential fall sports athletes must attend tryouts/practices for their respective sport in the Fall prior to the start of the season. This always occurs prior to the start of the school year and this year Fall sports practices/tryouts begin on August 1st. Please mark your calendars and plan accordingly so that your child can take advantage of the athletic opportunities offered at GMS! We don’t want anyone to miss the chance to be part of our teams and to represent Grizzell Middle School. GO CELTS!
