October 6, 2017

Hello on this rainy day. We’ve been spoiled by an excellent run of great weather, but it’s nice to have a little rain too. I hope you’re staying dry.

Unfortunately, as the sun came up on Monday morning we heard of the devastating news coming out of Las Vegas. Our hearts go out to the victims, their loved ones, and to any of you that have connections to that event. Although it is hard to keep our focus on the good during trying times like these, I have the wonderful perspective of watching our high school students on a daily basis and seeing the positive power of their human spirit. I wouldn’t be in this business if I didn’t expect a teenager to push the limits every now and then, but I continue to see overwhelming example after example of our kids going above and beyond for each other and their community. This gives me hope for today and tomorrow.

I would like to encourage all of us, kids included, to keep up the random acts of kindness. If you have time, take a minute this weekend to chat with your neighbor, buy a cup of coffee for the person behind you in line, call an old friend, or pick up a little something at Banana Republic for your favorite high school principal. :-) In times of hurt, giving makes all of us feel a little better.

Have a great weekend!

Travel to Spain in June

Dublin City Schools is proud to offer your child the opportunity to represent Jerome and extend their learning outside of the classroom walls. We have an amazing trip planned for this coming June of 2018.

We will be heading to Spain for a 10-day trip beginning in Madrid. We will spend several days there exploring the day-to-day culture as well as the many historic buildings, neighborhoods and classic artwork. We will then head north through the mountains in northern Spain and visit several different smaller and historic communities. There we will be able to truly experience life in Spain which is impossible to do through a textbook. Finally, we will head east and spend the last few days in Barcelona, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Your student will return with a much better appreciation for the antique and the amazing abilities of the Spanish people which is constantly on display through their culture.
