The Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Dublin City Schools are now accepting online nominations for the 13th annual Community Champion Awards.
The Community Champion Awards is a program that recognizes Dublin City Schools students in grades 4-12 and staff members who exemplify the best of volunteerism, character, leadership, and a sense of caring and responsibility for others.
“The Community Champion Awards was created to recognize young citizens who engage in society through leadership and service,” said Alan Baker, president of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. “This awards program celebrates the next generation of business leaders, as they have demonstrated that leadership comes from a caring heart and a service mindset.”
Community members are encouraged to submit nominations online through Feb. 28 at https://www.dublinchamber.org/community-champion-award-nominations
. An awards ceremony will be held Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Jerome High School Center for Performing Arts, 8300 Hyland-Croy Rd. in Dublin. It will be followed by a reception.
Each Community Champion Award honoree will receive a limited edition medal, as well as a gift bag filled with items from area businesses. In addition, nine seniors will receive a $500 scholarship and one student from each grade 4-11 will receive $100 in an Ohio Blackrock 529 plan account. The program also awards a Dublin City Schools staff member with a $500 donation made to a school project of choice.
“A large part of a complete, well-rounded education is encouraging students to give their time, energy and talents to help others in our community,” said Dublin City Schools Superintendent Dr. Todd Hoadley. "That is why Dublin City Schools is extremely proud of this partnership with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and this special program that celebrates students for being good citizens.”
Since its inception 13 years ago, the Community Champion Awards has recognized more than 2,600 students and staff of Dublin City Schools and awarded more than $60,000 in college scholarships.
