I hope you've had a good week!
Last Thursday evening I had a chance to attend our school play, The Octette Bridge Club, performed by our Theatre students. As always, our kids did a wonderful job. In addition to the fun-loving gossip between eight sisters, the play also addressed the difficulty we face as a society in addressing topics like depression, anxiety, and feeling valued. This continues to be a worry of mine as a high school principal. What can we do better as a village to support our students? I'm currently toying with the idea of offering a happiness seminar to interested students. There are some intriguing examples of colleges (Harvard's Positive Psychology 1504 being one) and high schools that offer such courses to students. Not surprisingly, these classes are extremely popular among the student body. Although I feel we are trying our best, this is one thing we haven't tried. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
A big hats off to our marching band for earning a superior rating at the OMEA State Finals this past weekend. To rank at the top among other bands throughout the state is a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students and directors. To that end, it's shaping up to be another exciting weekend with two of our cross country runners competing at States along with football and both soccer teams competing in tournament play. Best of luck to all involved!
Have a great weekend!
P.S. If you haven't tried a pumpkin iced cookie from the bakery section at Giant Eagle yet, get moving. They'll be gone in a few weeks!

A Message from the Library
How can you help your student with better information for research and class learning? How can your student make sure information is accurate? The Jerome Library invests in a number of databases to enable students to get the best information possible for their school assignments. PTO support extends to three of the databases to give students efficient, factual, and current information - we are grateful for this! The following is a list of the Jerome databases and the usernames and passwords to gain access to them: Library Databases.png
