GMS NEWS - October 26, 2017

Greetings from Washington DC! I have the pleasure again this year to be traveling with our 8th grade students.  We are having a wonderful time and, not surprisingly, they are representing Grizzell with awesome behavior and positive enthusiasm.  Ms. Murray is available to support our 6th and 7th grade students, parents, and teachers while we are in DC.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to her through the end of the week,  if you have questions or concerns.

While the 8th graders are in DC, the 6th and 7th grade students will get to enjoy a Thriller Dance on Friday, the 27th from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  There will be a DJ in the gym, a cake walk, bingo, and chess!  There will also be a costume contest, including the following:  best group of three or more, scariest, and best overall. Winners of the contest will receive a $10 gift card.  Students should start planning their costume (no masks at school please) and come ready to impress! PTO will be providing FREE pizza and water so students will not need to bring money for the canteen.

Finally, the first round of parent/teacher conferences is scheduled for November 2nd. Please contact your child’s team leader or Katie Pack, Guidance Secretary, if you have a concern you would like to discuss with your child’s teachers.

Have a wonderful weekend!

For parents of all GMS athletes, we would like to remind you that Dublin Schools Athletic Departments have partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management services.  FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic participation forms for your child.  The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season to season and year to year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice!  FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your children, saving you time.

You will need to review your information once per school year to verify information is current and sign the forms.  Please click on the link below to get started in FinalForms.  If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom and click “Use Support”.  We are asking that ALL parents of athletes use FinalForms.  Please register at now and electronically complete ALL forms.  Thank you for your assistance in streamlining our paperwork processes!

During the months of October and November, students in 7th- 12th grades will be participating in a district wide survey.  The information will be used to plan and refine important prevention and intervention programs. Your child will be asked questions about his/her attitudes and use regarding alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs; feelings about their school and community; family and personal characteristics; mental health and access to care and health-related behaviors.Participation is absolutely voluntary.

The survey is anonymous; no names or personal identifiers will be used. The answers that your child gives will be used only as part of a group response.  You may preview the questionnaire at your District Administrative Office or

If you APPROVE of your son or daughter taking part in this survey, you do not need to notify the school office. If you do NOT want your child to participate in this survey, please complete the “PARENT OPT OUT FORM” posted at

Your child will be excused from participation and given alternative school work during the survey period.
