November 30, 2017

Dear parents,

I hope you had a restful Thanksgiving full of family, friends, and good food. With the exception of a few leaves in the stuffing, I managed to go the entire weekend without seeing kale!

It's hard to believe, but we're steaming ahead to the end of the 1st semester already. Semester exams begin two weeks from tomorrow, and if you are new to the high school exam schedule, you'll notice that we only give two exams a day. Although the students manage to figure this out, look for a separate email early next week giving the ins and outs of the exam schedule, when students need to be here, lunch, transportation, etc.

Have a great weekend!

A Message From The School Nurse

Cold and flu season is here! As a reminder, hand washing is the number one way to prevent the spread of illness! Sleep, good nutrition, daily exercise, and positivity also help keep us healthy. District policy states that students having symptoms of fever 100 degrees or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, or other signs of a possible communicable disease, will be excluded until they are symptom-free for 24 hours without the benefit of medication.

For common communicable illnesses (such as strep throat, pink eye, ring worm), in which medication is required for treatment, students must complete a minimum of 24 hours of therapy before returning to school. For other communicable diseases (such as whooping cough, MRSA, or chicken pox) the exclusion time will be longer and may require a physician's note to return to school.

Please contact the school clinic if your child becomes ill after school or on the weekend so that the parents of those with weakened immune systems can be informed (names will never be given).

Thank you and best wishes for a healthy and happy school year!
