SCE Welcome to the new school year

Dear Scottish Corners Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  All of us here at Scottish Corners are looking forward to beginning a new school year, seeing our returning students and families, and welcoming new students and families to our SCE community.  We are excited learn and work together as we support our students and encourage them to Make Their Mark!

Our SCE staff is already busy preparing and planning for the year ahead and we hope that the contents of this letter will assist as you look forward to the new school year. We want to send special thanks to our dedicated custodial team who has worked non-stop to ensure that our school is ready. We also thank you in advance for your time and for preparing your child(ren) for the new school year.

Since our communication in June, we have gained some new staff members! We welcome Speech and Language Therapist Melissa Pope, Adaptive Physical Education Teacher Jordan Ramos, and Numeracy Coaches Abby Farris and McKenzie Zimmerman to our SCE team!

Beginning of the year items:

Dublin City Schools Online “Back to School” Registration Portal: During the week of July 10th, you should have received a letter in the mail with instructions on how to fill out your back to school forms and update your information using our new online portal. Forms must be completed online prior to the first day of school on August 16.

If you have not already done so, please fill out the required forms and update your information, please visit this link: You will need to complete these required forms in order to facilitate the smooth delivery of schedules and teacher assignments.

Teacher Assignments: During the week of August 7th, you will receive an email from Dublin City Schools telling you who your child’s teacher will be. Make sure you have updated information on the Dublin City Schools Back to School/Online Registration Portal so you are sure to receive this email.

Student Handbook: Parents/students are asked to read the Dublin City Schools Student Handbook on our Back to School/Online Registration Portal. Simply sign to acknowledge that you have read the handbook for the 2017-2018 school year.

Communication: This year we will again communicate with you by emailing information and by posting information on the Scottish Corners website. You can also follow us on Twitter @sceDCSD and receive district news and updates at @DublinSchools

School Supplies:  You may recall that our PTO sponsored a school supply pre-sale last spring. Pre-ordered supplies will be sent directly to our school and will be delivered to your child’s classroom.  For those of you who were not able to pre-order, school supply lists are available to view @

Kindergarten: If you have a kindergarten student joining us this year, remember the first 2 days are “Phase-In days,” so your child will only attend ONE day the first 2 days.  This allows us to acclimate kindergarteners to school in a smaller group setting. If you are unsure of your child’s Phase-In day, please call our school office.

Arrival and DismissalOur school day will begin at 9:10 a.m. and will end at 3:40 p.m. for students in grades 1-5. Morning Kindergarten time will be 9:10-11:50 a.m. and afternoon Kindergarten time will be 1:00-3:40 p.m. Students will be permitted to go to their classroom at 9:00 and class will begin promptly at 9:10.
