Wyandot Families:

As we get ready to wrap-up one school year, we start planning for the next. With the start of any new school year, it is inevitable that changes will happen. We wanted to provide you with the staff changes for the 2017-18 school year.

Ms.Gray will be staying in Kindergarten, but will be moving from full time substitute to full time teacher. She has done an amazing job with our kindergarten students and families this year, and we are excited to have her as a full time member of the Wyandot team.

Mr. Howell will be joining the 3rd grade team next school year. He is excited to take his strong skill set to the next grade level. He will be a tremendous addition to the 3rd grade team as he has taught 2nd and 4th grade at different times throughout his career. As a result, there will be four sections of 2nd grade and five sections of 3rd grade for the 2017-18 school year.

Mr. Baumann will be joining our 5th grade team. Mr. Baumann has been a Numeracy Coach for the last few years and has been coaching teachers, administrators and students in 3rd-5th grade with math concepts and thinking. He is excited to get back into the classroom, and we are excited to have his knowledge and skills on the 5th grade team. With the addition of Mr. Baumann, there will be four sections of 5th grade for next school year year.

Mrs. Axelband and Mr. Washburn will be joining our Intervention Specialists team. Mrs. Axelband comes to us from Bailey Elementary. She has been a Preschool Intervention Specialist for the past five years. She brings a lot of skills and tools to the Intervention Specialist position, and she is excited to move forward with her teaching career as an Elementary Intervention Specialist.

Mr. Washburn is a familiar face around the district and around Wyandot. He has been a long time Behavior Specialist and member of the district behavior team in Dublin. Mr. Washburn will be starting a Behavior Enrichment Classroom at Wyandot where he can bring all of his skills and knowledge as a Behavior Specialist to his classroom. He is excited to call Wyandot his new home and share his skills and resources with the our team.

Miss Smith, Ms. Seel and Mrs. Huffman will be joining the Wyandot team as building paraprofessionals. All three have worked in a variety of schools around the district, and come to us with a lot of great experience. We cannot wait to see the impact these three will make on the academic and social-emotional growth of our students.

We are extremely excited about all of the new additions to the Wyandot team, but we will also be losing a few valuable members of our team. We want to wish all of these teammates the best of luck in their future endeavours. Ms. Lewis, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Anderson are all retiring at the end of this school year. All three have devoted their careers to doing what is best for kids. We will be sad to see them leave, but we wish them well in their retirements. Mr. Thiel will also be leaving Wyandot to become a Preschool Intervention Specialist. Preschool is where Mr. Thiel started his career, and he feels it is his calling to go back. We know he will continue to do great things for kids.

Change is inevitable at the end of every school year, but every change is positive. We look forward to finishing our year strong! Thank you for everything you do for the students of Wyandot.

Your partners in education,

Mrs. Schwartz and Mr. Blake
