Every year since 1995, the District has earned the Certificate for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). This Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the District’s financial team.
“We hold ourselves to the highest standards of financial reporting.” said Treasurer Steve Osborne. “We dedicate ourselves to the responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and financial transparency.”
Several members of the District’s Treasurer’s Office received individual Awards of Financial Reporting Achievement for their contributions to the award winning CAFR, including Treasurer Steve Osborne, Assistant Treasurer Jeremy Buskirk and Fiscal Coordinator Julie Stromberg. Board President Lynn May also received this award.
“I am so proud of the Treasurer Office’s staff for their dedication and hard work,” Osborne said. “Their recognition is well-deserved.”
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
