PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

I am looking forward to our canteen tomorrow right after school, 3:15pm-5:30pm.  Thanks to our wonderful PTO, all students will receive a free piece of pizza and a water bottle, have an opportunity to play bingo, and choose to participate in the cakewalk.  Additionally, students can use the selfie wall to have fun with their friends.  As always, ping pong, chess, foosball, and dancing will be available.

Providing a safe environment for our students to learn and grow is my ultimate goal!  Please take a moment this weekend to check out the Report Bullying/Safety Concerns link on the Dublin City Schools main webpage. This site gives students and parents an opportunity to anonymously report health and safety incidents of any type.  “If you see something, say something” seems like an important motto to live by.  You can also feel free to reach out to me directly if you have a safety concern.  My direct line number is 614-718-8618 and I can be reached via email at evans_corinne@dublinschools.net

Have a wonderful weekend!

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear GMS Community,

We are looking forward to our “Furniture Wars” assembly tomorrow, during which May Madness points and team colors are up for grabs!  Thanks to the leadership of Student Council, teams will select their colors based on the finishing order in the “Wars” relay. It should be exciting!

Following the relay, students will be introduced to how they can earn May Madness points AND contribute to the furniture designs of our updated classrooms.  This is where you can support your child!  One way to earn May Madness points is to visit youcaring.com (see full address below) with your child. Students will bring home a design sheet tomorrow and with your signature, you can help your child’s team! At the same time, you’ll have an opportunity to take a look at the amazing opportunity we have to move GMS ahead of Central Ohio when it comes to classroom design.

One final word about the furniture design contest. Did you know that your place of employment may match any size of donation you make to GMS? The website below lists several companies that will match employee donations. And, even if your place of employment isn’t listed, you might check in with the business to see if it would like to contribute. Any amount is very much appreciated.

If “Furniture Wars” isn’t enough excitement for you, Shrek Jr.  is coming to Grizzell next week.  Please check the school calendar for performance dates.  I can’t wait to see the production.  Students have been working hard everyday after school learning their lines and creating an awesome show.  I hope to see you at the Abbey Theater!

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

The Grizzell Furniture Wars are coming! On Friday, February 9th, GMS will kick off May Madness with an assembly featuring an introduction to our school wide Classroom Furniture Design contest. Historically May Madness has featured teams competing in a “Crazy Relay” which involved shooting baskets, scooter races, hockey pucks and much more.  This year, the Crazy Relay has evolved into Furniture Wars, a relay race focused on the use of classroom “furniture.” Students will push each other on chairs with wheels, race on bouncy balls like in Mr. Wadenstierna’s room, and several other crazy tasks. All of this fun is designed to get kids excited about our furniture fundraiser and to earn May Madness points.

Ask your son or daughter about the classroom furniture design contest, the furniture scavenger hunt, and how they can earn May Madness points for their academic teams. Hint: They need you!!!  Have a wonderful weekend!

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Happy Friday! As we approach the end of January, I would normally begin to think about and plan for March Madness, our school-wide team competition.  However, this year March Madness has become May Madness! While we have already held some of the competitions (“Grizzell’s Got Talent,” the Geography Bee, and the Spelling Bee), the majority of the events will be held during the week of May 7-11 with the finale on May 11, starting at 3:30 p.m.

The next competition “Furniture Wars” (AKA crazy relay) will be held on February 8th during an assembly kicking off the student design contest for how we will use our new furniture.  (Thank you PTO and entire GMS community for your continuing efforts with the Furniture fundraiser.  See the link for donations below.)

Enjoy the beautiful day and thank you for everything you do to make GMS the best place to learn!

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

We have a great opportunity to help one of our own.  The Reynolds family who has children enrolled at Jerome and Glacier Ridge (next year at GMS!) lost their home on New Year’s Eve to a devastating fire. Everything, including 2 pets were destroyed.  I can’t begin to imagine the task of rebuilding my house and all that it takes to make a house a home.  They must be brave people!

This is where the Celtic community can make a difference. On Friday, January 26th, the Jerome girls basketball team is sponsoring a “Pack the House” benefit for the Reynolds family. Proceeds from the event and the sale of “Rebuild Reynolds” wristbands will go directly to the family to aid them in their rebuilding process. The event begins at 6pm at DJHS and I know this community will rally around the Reynolds family.  If you want more details about the event, please visit the following link OR download the attachment below.

See you at DJHS on the 26th!

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear GMS Community,

It is a true pleasure to welcome Nancy Roe Pimm to Grizzell.  Today, she shared her experiences as a writer with all of our students and highlighted some really cool information from each of the non-fiction books she has written.  Mrs. Pimm’s research skills are amazing!  Prior to her visit, I was able to read Colo’s Story: The Life of One Grand Gorilla  and Bonded by Battle and her ability to bring to life the content was incredible.  Our students are very fortunate to learn from Mrs. Pimm!  The learning continues tomorrow when Mrs. Pimm leads several writing workshops with interested students. Thank you to Mrs. Moshiri for organizing the two day event and to our PTO for providing the opportunity to the entire school.

If you would like to order one of Mrs. Pimm’s books, please see the attached order form.

Donations are being accepted through the end of January. Check out the photo of Mr. Wadenstierna’s classroom.  Innovative seat and desk options make a difference for student learning. It only takes $55.55 per child to completely overhaul our school with furniture that makes the skills, knowledge and habits of Profile of a Graduate more attainable.  Thank you in advance for considering making a donation.  See below for more information.

Have a wonderful weekend!

GMS NEWS - January 4, 2018

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear GMS Community:

Welcome back!  I hope you had a chance to rest, relax, and recharge over our winter holiday.  We are gearing up for some special events in the month of January so please take a moment to check out the details below.

Next week we will be hosting local author Nancy Roe Pimm on Thursday, January 11th and Friday, January 12th. Students and parents may order books to be autographed all next week Monday through Thursday.  Nancy has written many non-fiction books about a variety of topics from NASCAR racing, Gorillas, to military dogs. Her research for her books is thorough and impressive.  We are excited to have Nancy share her passion for writing and research and impart her experience as an established author with our students here at Grizzell. Visit her website at http://nancyroepimm.com/

Through the end of January, families can donate to the PTO furniture fundraiser. We are nearly half way to our goal which is awesome!  Let’s see if we can get to 60% by the start of next week.  Students will be using the furniture prior to the end of the school year so your support will have an immediate impact.  Thank you in advance for taking the time to check out the information below and for considering a donation or talking with business owners in your circle about outfitting an entire room. Together we can do this!  #fourfives #55.55

Have a warm weekend!
