Welcome to First Grade in Room 107

January 25, 2019

Dear Families,

The students are very excited about our upcoming author visit on February
with Steve Harpster. I have attached an order form for his drawing books.

First grade will take the MAP math test on February 7. Please make sure
your child gets a good nights sleep, eats a healthy breakfast and arrives
on time that day.

Our Valentine party will be February 14 from 2:30-3:15. We will make
Valentine bags at school so you do not need to prepare boxes at home. We
would like for every child to bring a card for his/her friends. A list of
first names is at the bottom of this newsletter. It is great handwriting
practice for your child to address and sign the cards. If your child's
Valentines contain treats/candy (nut free) of any kind that is fine, but
they will be saved to eat at home and not at school.

Winter/spring conferences are February 21 and 27. This set of conferences
is student involved. This means your child will attend with you and share
his/her academic and behavior goals for the last semester. A sign up form
came home with your child today!

Our week in Review:
Today was our 100th day of school! We enjoyed many fun activities that
involved the number 100.  In Langage Arts, we spent time reading snowman
stories and focused on the details and adjectives used by the author.  In
math, we took an assessment on telling time to the hour and 1/2 hour.  In
Social Studies, we learned about Martin Luther King, Jr.
