Principal's Message

  • Good Afternoon Jerome Families!

As the Grateful Dead would say, "what a long strange trip it's been". But somehow, someway, we made it. I have spent the better part of the past week trying to construct the word in my mind for all Jerome students and families that convey the complexity of emotions that I have been feeling.

I have never been a great writer or orator so it is unlikely I will do myself justice but I'll do my best. Ultimately, I want all of you to know what an honor it has been to serve the Jerome community as principal. This last year has been as fulfilling and uplifting as I could have imagined it would be in my return.

You may think that sounds strange since we lost the final quarter of the year and we are dealing with a once in a generation event. However, all of the reasons I desired to come back to Jerome have been on display since March 13. The resolve, grit, compassion, love, support, and drive for and by our students have given me an immense amount of HOPE.

My experiences and learnings over the past few months have only strengthened my belief that Jerome is a beacon of hope and will change our community and the world for the better. This is not just in terms of academics but as humans.

It is my goal that we seize on what we have learned and use it to continue to help evolve Jerome into the standard of what all public high schools should be.

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you for your help and support over this year and the last 3 months. While I know it has been trying and we have some areas for growth (and always will), you have extended grace and support that has helped us to provide the best experiences possible for our students.

Wishing you all a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer.

    With love and respect,
    Mike
