Title I, Part A: Supporting Student Success

Our district receives federal funding through Title I, Part A to help ensure all children have an equitable opportunity to obtain a high quality education.

What is the purpose of Title I funding?

The purpose of Title I funding is to provide supplemental resources to school districts and eligible schools. These federal funds are allocated based on census data to help schools enhance their educational programs, improve student outcomes, and support overall academic growth.

Are schools selected to receive Title I funds?

Title I funds are distributed to districts based on federal formulas tied to community demographics. Once the district receives the funding, local leadership looks at federal guidelines and school enrollment data to determine which specific school buildings are eligible to participate.

How Title I Programs Look in Our Schools

Depending on the specific needs and demographics of an eligible school building, it will operate under one of two federal Title I models:

1. Schoolwide Programs

In a Schoolwide Title I building, funds are used to upgrade the entire educational program. The school designs a comprehensive improvement plan that benefits all students across the building. These resources might fund schoolwide learning initiatives, high-quality instructional materials, or specialized staff to boost overall achievement.

2. Targeted Assistance Programs

In a Targeted Assistance Title I building, funds are directed toward specific students who have been identified as needing extra academic help. The school uses data to select eligible students based on their specific learning needs, providing them with strategies to help them thrive.
