Stories Behind the Legacy Fund

“The Dublin City Schools Legacy Fund will inspire, empower and support our students and help them gain access to their dreams."

About Clay Rose

Lifelong Dublin resident and Dublin High School alum Clayton ‘Clay’ Rose III is thrilled to help establish the Dublin City Schools Legacy Fund, which will help provide those in the area some of the same opportunities he had while attending Dublin schools.

“I am so excited about the creation of The Dublin City Schools Legacy Fund because it provides a vehicle to give back collectively to a place that means so much to all of us,” he said. “There is no greater way to honor both the past and future than to ‘pay it forward’ and that is exactly what the DCS Legacy Fund is here to do.”

Clay graduated from Dublin High School in 1970. Both of Clay’s parents graduated from Dublin schools, Betty in 1944 and Clayton II in 1945.  His sisters also graduated from Dublin High School, Phyllis in the class of 1971 and Linda in the class of 1973. All three of Clay’s children attended and graduated from Dublin High Schools.

Clay, a CPA, spent 44 years in public accounting, 38 of those years as a principal with Rea & Associates in Dublin. He is a 39-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Dublin, a 32-year board member for the Dublin Convention and Visitors Bureau, and was a Dublin Irish Festival committee co-chair for 15 years. Clay is also active with the Dublin Historical Society as well as Dublin Community Church, where he has been a member since childhood.

The community has recognized Clay for his contributions. He was honored by the City of Dublin as the 1999 Independence Day Grand Marshal along with his wife, Lynn. In 2010 Clay was named Grand Leprechaun of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and was inducted into the Dublin City Schools Hall of Fame in 2012.

Dublin and its schools helped form the man that Clay is today and left a lasting impact on him.

He is now committed to continuing to give back to the community through the Legacy Fund.

“When you reach a certain point in your life, you reflect on the life-changing experiences you had, and how you can provide those same experiences to future generations,” Clay said. “The Dublin City Schools Legacy Fund is the perfect way to help shape the future.”

Clay and Lynn gave one of the cornerstone gifts to establish The DCS Legacy Fund in 2019. He welcomes the opportunity to share his vision for the Fund with any potential donors who would like to learn more.

A Message from the Director of Alumni and Development

Dear Alumni,

I have had the extreme privilege of being the Director of Alumni Relations and Development for Dublin City Schools since the summer of 2016. Dublin City Schools is proud of its many accolades and accomplishments, but nothing is more representative of that pride than the people that have walked through our hallways for the past 100+ years.

It speaks volumes to the character of this community that a group of dedicated District graduates decided to establish The Dublin City Schools Legacy Fund to help members of our community. The legacy fund is a charitable endowment (under the umbrella of the existing 501(c)(3) of the Dublin City Schools Alumni Association) that will help provide assistance to Dublin City Schools students, families, and programs that need a helping hand to reach their full potential.

The Dublin City Schools Legacy Fund will inspire, empower, and support our students and help them fulfill their dreams.

There is a perception that all Dublin residents are free of debt and financial stress. This is far from reality as several of our neighbors experience personal hardships. More than 10 percent of our students qualify for the federal free & reduced lunch program.

The Legacy Fund is administered through The Columbus Foundation, a trusted philanthropic advisor, we are excited to invest in the future of our community.
