DCS Virtual offers online courses that are asynchronous and self-guided. Students can take a combination of virtual courses and in-person courses to fill the 7-period school day. The courses count towards a student’s GPA and are monitored by Dublin teachers. DCS Virtual courses do not require real-time interactions; instead, content is available online for students to access when it best suits their schedule.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

All students can learn. Parents and teachers are valuable team members in the development of educational plans for their children. Each student with disabilities should be educated to the maximum extent possible in his/her home school. Students with disabilities should, to the maximum extent possible, be educated with students who are not disabled. Each school should have staff that works as a team to meet the needs of the students being educated there. Intervention services are an important aspect in the continuum that needs to be addressed prior to referral for special education services. Building cross-categorical intervention specialists can offer more home-school opportunities and meet the individual needs of students with disabilities. Students with disabilities will be offered a continuum of services. It is essential for collaboration to occur between regular education teachers and the intervention specialists. Staff development is crucial to meeting student needs and staying current with the latest information and initiatives. A variety of experiences will be provided to insure the continued development of our staff. Technology should be incorporated into the curriculum, through universal design procedures, to maximize opportunities for students with disabilities to reach high standards. The performance and needs of all students should be considered when statewide or district-wide assessments are required for the development of educational programs.

The District is proud to offer specialized programming to try and meet the needs of all of our learners. Below are some of the specialized offerings we have:

• Emerald Campus: Emerald Campus offers an innovative network of personalized educational opportunities preparing learners for our changing world. There are four types of programs available to current Dublin City Schools high school students: Experiential Learning Academies, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme and courses, Columbus State Courses, and Alternative Learning Programs. • Dublin City Schools Preschool: The Dublin City School District offers an outstanding preschool program that serves children with disabilities and also provides an educational opportunity for typically developing children to serve as social and academic role models (peers) in the classroom. We strive to ensure that all children in our program are challenged to excel to the best of their ability. • PATHS: Our PATHS Programs achieve postsecondary success through the partnership between students, families, program staff, agencies, and our Dublin Community. We provide targeted transitional experiences and curriculum that assist students in planning for future employment, education, and independent living goals. Learn more about our PATHS Program.
• The Bridge: We are committed to providing customized educational programs, which meet the needs of learners who can achieve greater success utilizing a non-traditional educational experience. Students are provided with a variety of educational options that can lead to graduation and are supported by services for the student and their immediate family that are essential to success. Ensuring safety, providing opportunities, offering choice, and maximizing learning for every student are the highest priorities for all of us in Dublin City Schools.  

In order to achieve these goals, students must feel physically and emotionally safe and feel a sense of belonging to their school.  When students experience these, the stage can be set for them to reach their full potential.
