Public Participation
The Board of Education recognizes the value to school governance of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on school matters of community interest. The public can engage with the Board of Education at any of their meetings.
Work Sessions - Open Engagement and Conversation
During the second Board meeting of each month (designated as a Board work session), the Board allows up to 60 minutes of open public participation. This public participation opportunity is conversational and follows a “Q & A” format. Participants can ask questions or comment on any subject or topic. In addition to Board of Education members, Dr. Marshhausen and the DCS executive leadership team will be present. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required. Participants will be asked to sign in upon arrival to address questions or concerns on a first-come, first-served basis.
Business Meetings - Participation for Business Items on the Agenda
At each business meeting (the first meeting of each month), the Board provides a period for public participation in accordance with Board Policy 0169.1. Any Dublin City School District resident having a legitimate interest in the actions of the Board may participate. This public participation opportunity is formal, allowing members of the public to express themselves on school matters of community interest. Each statement made by a participant shall be limited to three (3) minutes in duration, unless extended by the presiding officer. No participant may speak more than once. All statements shall be presented from the lectern and directed to the presiding officer; no person may address or question Board members individually. Any person wishing to participate must register at least twelve (12) hours in advance by giving notice of their name, address, and group affiliation, if and when appropriate, to the District Public Information Office by using the Public Participation form below (recommended), emailing info@dublinschools.net or calling (614) 760-4372.
