What is the learning model for DCS Virtual K-8?
Students will engage in virtual learning with their assigned teachers throughout the day using the Learning Management System (LMS) and live instruction platforms. The LMS for K-5th is Google Classroom, the LMS for 6th-8th is Schoology, and Google Meets are used for live instruction.
There will be some required face-to-face assessments throughout the year based on grade level and course schedule.

Will students be grouped with peers from their elementary home school?
Student groups will be based on enrollment. Enrollment is open to all DCS students.

Will the teachers be DCS teachers?
Yes, all teachers are highly qualified, Dublin City Schools teachers.

Will General Music, Art, and Physical Education be offered?
Yes, related arts will be offered in a synchronous manner with the expectation of choir, orchestra, and band.

Is this my ‘home school’ or a separate school?
Yes, DCS Virtual is considered the student's homeschool when enrolled with DCS Virtual.

What are DCS Virtual K-8 class sizes going to be?
DCS Virtual class sizes will be comparable to the in-person classes.

What is the daily schedule?
School starts at 8:30 am and goes until 3:15 each day. Students should be available for synchronous learning throughout the school day.

Will DCS Virtual provide resources?
Yes, student materials will be provided and depend on each student’s grade level, courses, and special instructional needs. In addition, a school supply list will be available prior to the start of the school year.

How will students receive resources?
We are planning our supply pick ups for Wednesdays throughout the school year. Teachers will be in touch with parents to let them know which Wednesdays they will have supplies ready.

What happens if our family needs technology?
DCS Virtual provides Chromebooks for all students grades K-8.

How will my student be graded?
The DCS Board of Education approved grading policy will be used.

How will my student be assessed?
Students will complete most assessments in a virtual setting. There will be some required face-to-face assessments throughout the year based on grade level and course schedule.

Can my student still attend ‘home school’ activities?
Students can participate in their home school’s after-school activities. These activities can include sports, clubs, and theme events. DCS Virtual teachers will accommodate celebrations during the school day through our learning platform.

What special services will be available for my child?
All services will be available (IEP, 504, EL, Gifted, Reading Support, Guidance).
- Special Education - Intervention specialists and related services provided will be assigned to students. IEP teams may need to convene to determine how a student’s IEP may need to be amended in light of an online learning environment.
- Gifted Services - GIS’s will instruct and support cognitively gifted students in grades 4-8, accelerated math 5-6 students, and gifted reading students in 7th & 8th grade.
- English Learners - EL services will be provided to students. The level of support will be based on their English language proficiency. Bilingual aids will be available for native language assistance.
