Our world is one that is rapidly changing and technology changes even faster! As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, technology has become the primary means of communication and entertainment for many. However, many engage on social media and the internet with a limited understanding of potential security concerns or potential impact on mental health. In this Parent Workshop, participants will learn how to “be in the know” abut children’s use of technology. Participants will also increase their understanding of how to engage kids and teens in meaningful conversation about responsible digital citizenship, boundaries and safe technology use. In addition, participants will gain practical tips for implementing safety measures, while also having the opportunity to discuss how technology can be both useful and helpful. But do you ever stop to think about who might be following you and the information they may have access to on the sites you’re using? Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, technology has come become more important than ever. This workshop will help you become a more informed and responsible digital citizen. Participants will increase their understanding of types of technology boundaries that are important to have in place to ensure safety when on social media and the internet.
