When can I start turning in my DC paperwork? The deadline to turn in paperwork was Friday, September 20th.

When do students have to arrive at GMS?  5:00 AM on Tuesday, Oct 22rd - Report to your Bus Leader to get your nametag before you get on the bus.

How many students and teachers are attending? Roughly 325 students and 21 teachers . Each Bus will also have tour guide the entire trip from the Prodigy Tour company.

How are teachers assigned to students?  Bus Leaders divide students by gender and mix them to achieve a nice social group. Roommates travel together on the same bus.

How do I get in touch with my child in an emergency? Call your child’s cell phone or call the main office at GMS and they will contact the group leaders.

What security measures are taken on the bus, during transitions, at sightseeing locations? Throughout the trip students are required to use a buddy system.  They have either direct adult supervision, visual sight of chaperones or check in points and times (such as when they are in museums) for security. Each child has an identification badge with a local emergency number should they be separated from the group.

How does the night security work?  Students go to their rooms after returning from touring.  They have a night check by teacher group leaders and no one is allowed out of rooms after the check.  Security personnel from Prodigy Tours monitor and walk our hotel hallways all night.

How does the money work? All meals are covered either through a cash allotment given to the students just prior to eating or it is already covered in the cost of the trip.  Students MAY bring additional money for souvenirs or snacks. You know your child’s spending habits best.

Can students bring cell phones? YES! They will be reminded of times and locations when use of the cell phone is not allowed or if it should be left on the bus (don’t forget a charger).

What about a camera?  We recommend digital cameras or cell phone cameras.

Is there a separate medical form for the trip? Yes, this should have been done already. If changes have been made, please turn in the updated version. Please be sure to provide any necessary medication to the bus leader on or before the day we depart for the trip.

What is the return time?  Between 10 and 11 PM on Friday night, 10/25/19. We will encourage your child to call/text with an exact time as we approach GMS or just watch for updates on Twitter @gmsDCSD.

Are there any dress restrictions? We advise your child to wear layers all week. Look at the forecast for D.C. and pack accordingly. We encourage comfortable clothes that are school appropriate. We also encourage comfortable walking shoes. There is NO NEED for “dressy clothes”. If yoga pants are worn, the shirt MUST cover!
