8th Grade Newsletter for Friday, May 20
Physical Science: Mrs. Chandler & Miss McCauley – Physical Science students will be finishing up their unit on chemical bonding.
- Mrs. Chandler - Mrs. Chandler’s science students will be finishing their natural selection project.
- Miss McCauley & Mr. Miller – Mrs. McCauley and Mr. Miller will finish up the natural selection unit
Algebra 1: Mr.Young – Students will be creating two-way frequency tables and we will have our 6th annual Mathball Tournament.
Math 8: Mr. Pulsinelli – Final stages of the Design a Zoo contest.
Geometry: Mr. Pulsinelli – Scale Model Contest presentations and judging.
Social Studies: Mr. Anglea, Mrs. Albert, Mrs. Wilch – Students will continue to explore the essential question: "What factors and events influenced the outcome of the Civil War?" Students will be comparing the strengths/weaknesses of the Union and the Confederacy and examining critical battles/events of the war. Please see schoology for additional information.
Spanish 1: Mrs. Buss – Students will watch a Spanish film, La Misma Luna.
French 1: Mrs. McLaughlin – We are wrapping up our café unit with a final dictation assessment this Friday. We will celebrate with a “café” day in class on Monday. Please see the sign-up sheet in this week’s Schoology folder. Instead of a speaking exam, students will create a video for their French penpal. All videos are due on or before Wednesday, May 25.
STEM (Gateway to Technology) Mrs. Williams – Students will wrap up work in the Automation & Robotics Unit learning about coding & robotics. Please see Schoology for course updates and assignment due dates. Information for the course Post Assessments is posted on Schoology and in the classroom. Course Post Assessment is Monday. All work is due Tuesday May 24. HAVE A GREAT SUMMER AND GOOD LUCK IN HIGH SCHOOL!
Technology Solutions Mrs. Williams – Students will complete work on their Coding unit. Students should be wrapping up work on Lessons 17. All work is due by Wednesday May 25. HAVE A GREAT SUMMER AND GOOD LUCK IN HIGH SCHOOL!
Physical Education: Ms. Nighbert & Mr. Hillery – We have enjoyed having your child in PE this trimester. We will finish the year with different one day activities. Have a great summer and good luck in high school.
- Mr. Huesman – In 8th grade Health, we will continue with our Partner Led Project over Mental Health and/or Emotional Health. We will culminate with the kids presenting to the class their findings. Have a great week and summer!
- Mrs. Cockrell – Students will wrap up our human growth and development unit. I have enjoyed getting to know all of you, have a fantastic summer!!
Choir: Mrs. Campbell – Our Pop Show is Tuesday, May 24th at 7:30 PM in the KMS Gym. Concert attire is “Disney” theme (all black with red accents and mickey ears, or if you have a solo, dress as that character). Please be sure outfits are school appropriate! 8th graders need to report to the gym at 6:50 PM.
