This is my 8th year of teaching. I have previously taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, and I am now a Reading Support Teacher. I enjoy teaching and reading very much, and I love working with the students at Thomas Elementary to enhance their literacy skills.

Your child will be working very hard and learning many strategies to strengthen their reading throughout the school year. It is also important for them to have your support at home as well. One of the greatest gifts and most beneficial things you can give your child are daily opportunities to explore literacy activities. I encourage you to read-aloud to your child, listen as your child reads to you, and read a variety of books together with your child. Reading on a regular basis and providing daily literacy experiences are the foundation for continued success in school. There are many additional things you can do to promote literacy at home as well, some including; engage in conversations, encourage writing in a journal on topics of interest, play word games like Scrabble, and frequently visit the public library. Remember to have fun reading, writing. . . and learning!

Please take a moment to explore the literacy links on this website. These resources include great ways to support your child’s literacy learning at home.

Happy Reading!
