Scottish Corners Elementary
Community,
After the first couple of
weeks, the school year is off to a fantastic start! The students are working
hard in the classrooms and we are ready for an exciting and productive year. We
have begun the year in high gear and invite you to join us on Monday evening,
September 13, for Curriculum Night. This is an opportunity for you to talk to
your child’s teacher and find out what the students will be learning this year.
Please remember that we have rescheduled
Curriculum Night for September 13 for both primary and intermediate
students. I hope to see you there!
I want to again thank all of
our parents and volunteers for the outstanding support you provided for SCE
last school year. This is the time of year when you will hear a lot about new
opportunities to help us at the building. I hope that you will consider
spending some time at school or at one of our activities in the near future.
The staff and I truly appreciate it and it means a great deal to our students
to see the how you support them throughout the year.
Finally, thank you for
sending your children to SCE ready to learn! We plan to have a fabulous school
year.

Going Green
We are always looking for
ways to be environmentally responsible at Scottish Corners, so we are trying to
go green/paperless with our monthly newsletter. Obviously, it will help us cut
copying costs also. In this issue, you will find a form to complete and return
to the building about accessing our newsletter electronically. We definitely
want everyone to get the information that we include in our newsletters.
Therefore, we want to know if you continue to need a paper copy. Please be sure
to send your form back to school so that we can plan for effective
communication. We want to inform you in advance and hope to initiate this
system for our November newsletter.
Student Drop off/Pick up
Please help us in the
morning and afternoon to keep our traffic flowing smoothly and maintain safety
in front of the building for students. When you drop students off or pick them
up, it really helps to pull as far forward as possible along the curb. This
helps us to get more cars lined up so there is a shorter wait. Please only pick
up or drop off students at the curb. There is also a yellow line painted on the
sidewalk in front of the building. We are teaching students to stay behind that
line when you pick them up until you are stopped and are ready for them to
enter the car. Also, do not park on the drive in front of the building during the
morning and afternoon bus times.
