This year, the event will benefit Jerome student Mark Burkholder and the Lyndsey Rice and Kyle Colello Memorial Scholarship Funds. Mark is a stand-out sophomore student at Dublin Jerome who suffered a devastating head injury in an accident this past fall. He continues to make a steady, but slow recovery. His family has incurred large medical bills and it was the decision of the members of the Superintendent’s Middle and High School Student Advisory Committees that the Burkholder family receive a portion of the funds raised this year.
The second portion of the funds will benefit the Memorial Scholarship Funds of Lyndsey Rice and Kyle Colello, our two beloved Scioto students who died tragically in November of 2009. Last year’s dodgeball event raised nearly $14,000 for the scholarship funds established by the Rice and Colello families.
“My student committees did a tremendous job identifying this year’s worthy causes,” said Superintendent Dr. David Axner. “It is completely appropriate we reach out and help Mark and his family while continuing to support the Rices and Colellos. We hope the entire community will turn out to support these efforts and for a night of friendly competition.”
The tournament will be a single elimination competition and consist of five divisions. Elementary, middle school, high school girls, high school boys, and adults. We are accepting entries of one student team per elementary school, and two student teams per middle school. Boys and girls may play on the same team.
Please see the attachments below for the brackets of each of the tournaments.
