Dear Parents:

Welcome to Grizzell Middle School! We hope you have had a fun summer making memories and taking the time to relax and visit with those important to you. As you know, the start of school is just around the corner. We have planned several events and worked very hard in preparation for the new school year. I’d like to call your attention to the checklist at the bottom of this message. Completion of the items on this checklist is paramount in making the transition back to school as smooth as possible. For your convenience, we have provided active links to these action items that required at the beginning of each school year. To be as thorough as possible, we have also sent a hard copy of this letter and checklist to everyone via the U.S. Postal Service.

For families who are new to Dublin, we have a New Student Breakfast on August 9th at 9 a.m. which features activities that will help those new students become familiar with other new students, as well as Grizzell Middle School. Please contact Katie Pack, guidance secretary at 614-718-8613 to add your child’s name to the list of attendees.

Our “Back to School” day is August 9th. Sixth Grade Only Orientation will take place from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Both students and parents are asked to attend. Students can meet their teachers, walk their schedules, pick up pre-ordered school supplies, get their school pictures taken, and practice opening their lockers. Simultaneously, parents will be participating in “My Child Is In Middle School. Now What?” which is designed to introduce parents to office staff, Schoology, information about Outdoor Education, and use of technology devices as learning tools.

Our 7th and 8th grade students are invited to attend “Back to School Day” on the afternoon of August 9th from 1-5 p.m. As in years past, students can decorate their lockers, pick up pre-ordered school supplies, have their pictures taken, and walk their schedules.

It is full of important information and should be your primary resource for event dates (academic, music, and athletic), weekly newsletters and school information. As our district continues to improve our technology and become more environmentally friendly, we have changed how families can complete all the necessary forms and update their preferences which are required at the beginning of each year.
