Wow!!! Time flies when you’re having fun...I’m not sure if any truer words have ever been spoken! The 2016-17 school year was filled with awesome learning opportunities, enhanced by student clubs, organizations, performance groups and athletics. If you attended a band, orchestra or choir concert, our recent art show, or the drama club production, you witnessed middle school talent and artistry at its best!
Many of our Celtic athletic teams experienced tremendous success with winning seasons, including the Girls Track 4x4 relay team who finished in 2nd place at the middle school state track tournament. Students excelled in academic clubs as well including Lego League’s world’s qualifying efforts, MathCounts mathletes won 1st place at one of their tournaments and Power of the Pen students are competing this weekend at the state competition.
Students were generous this year too! They rallied around one of their own classmates in his battle with leukemia and raised more than $3700 in that effort. Additionally, they collected school supplies for those who need it, made blankets to keep people warm and organized “blessings in a backpack” among many other charitable activities.
And who could forget all the fun of March Madness, or the middle school dodgeball tournament championship that featured not one, but two teams from Grizzell! I hope when your child looks back on this school year, he/she does so with many fond memories. I know I will!
For parents of 8th grade students, please make note of the details below regarding the 8th grade end of year events.
As we close one school year, we can’t do so without thinking ahead to next year. Please watch both your email and mail, as well as the website near the first part of August for details for next school year. I can hardly wait to do it all again!
Have a wonderful summer!
