Continuous Improvement Advisory Council created to seek actionable advice on pertinent issues facing the District
One of Dublin City Schools’ District goals is to continuously improve in everything that we do. This council was established to explore the vast resources of our community, specifically the mindsets of our local businesses, which will help to achieve our goal.
“A good number of the business in our community either have internal operational excellence departments or utilize continuous improvement methodologies,” said Director of Strategic Planning & Transformation Adam Shank. “It was our vision to further expand our community involvement and tap into the expertise right in our backyard.”
At the meeting, community members met with District administrators and union representatives to discuss the nexus between Operational Excellence and public education. Topics such as techniques to maximize resources, engage teams, and drive results, the importance of communication and collaboration, and cost savings were discussed.
“As our esteemed council member Ken Robinette of Cardinal Health said, if your organization has people, processes, and desired outputs; continuous improvement is
for you,” said Shank. “The focus of our District, much like a business, is planning, engagement, and driving results in pursuit of our overall mission. This emphasis on operational excellence will ultimately benefit our students and community in the form of cost savings that can be reinvested into the classroom.”
The committee plans to meet monthly to continue these discussions and to grow the council with both educators in the District and other community experts.
