GMS News - August 31, 2017

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

It was great to see so many of you at Open House on Tuesday. I hope you were able to meet each of your child’s teachers and find out how they will be supporting him/her throughout the year. If you have lingering questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to the teacher via email.

Please mark your calendars for September 17th.  GMS is hosting another Red Cross blood drive.  Last spring your response and support was enormous! So much, in fact, that many potential donors had to be turned away.  I will provide more information about the drive in next week’s newsletter!

Finally, our student leaders are meeting on Tuesday to get organized to host a drive to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey.  Look for an email separate from the weekly update detailing the opportunity.  Texas needs us and I know the Celtic community will step up in a big way.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Schoology Parent Accounts

Dublin City Schools uses Schoology, a Learning Management System (LMS) for grades 6-12 in order to provide parents with streamlined academic communication, and teachers and students with a powerful instructional tool.

As a parent, you can create a Schoology Parent Account to view and access your child's Schoology information.  To create this account, you will need a parent access code for each of your children.  If you don't have this code, please email Laura Tucker, our Technology Support Teacher, at tucker_laura@dublinschools.net.  She will be able to help you.  If needed, you do have the ability to create multiple parent accounts using the same student access code.  Once you have the access code, you can use this link for step-by-step instructions to create your account: www.dublinschools.net/schoology.aspx.  Please Note:  Schoology Parent Accounts and Schoology Student Accounts are separate accounts.  The Parent Account is a view only account.  Each student already has an account set up by the district.

HEALTH CURRICULUM OPT OUT REQUESTS - FOR PARENTS OF 7TH & 8TH GRADE STUDENTS ONLY

Parents of 7th and 8th grade students who wish to have their child “opt out” of the SOS (Signs of Suicide) screener administered in the mental health unit of Health class may click here to print a form to sign and return to school.  Please return the signed form only if you would like your child to “opt out” of the screener.  Forms can be returned to Mrs. Evans.

INTERESTED IN A FALL SPORT FOR NEXT YEAR?

If your child is interested in a Fall sport next year, please note all sports will begin tryouts and/or practices during the week of July 30 - August 3 and continue throughout the season.  Many times parents don’t realize this and schedule vacations, etc prior to the start of school.  We want to be proactive in sharing these dates to avoid any potential athletes from missing tryouts or practices which in turn would be prohibitive to their participation.
