Thank you to all the families and staff for two successful Curriculum Nights this week. It is always great to have our families come and learn about their child’s classroom and about the learning opportunities students will have throughout the school year.
In case you missed Curriculum Night, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher for any information that was shared. They would be happy to send highlights or hand outs of anything they discussed. One area that I discussed during Time with the Principal was in regards to a change in the elementary school calendar. The last few years, the elementary calendar was on a trimester schedule. Parents would receive report cards 3 times per year. This year, the elementary calendar is on a semester schedule. Parents will receive report cards 2 times per year. This change allows report cards to come out between conferences. Parents will be invited to parent/teacher conferences in October, receive a report card in December, have another parent/teacher conference in February, and receive a final report card in May.
We continue to learn and grow with your children every day. Thank you for your support and trust of the wonderful Wyandot staff! We appreciate what you all do every day for your children.
Your partner in education,
No School on Oct. 2 to provide staff with additional student safety training
The safety of our students is the District’s number one priority. With that in mind, Dublin City Schools has asked the Ohio Department of Education for what is known as a “waiver day” on Oct. 2 to provide staff with important training about keeping students safe. Details are available at this link.
Girl Scout Information Night - September 18
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. An Information Night will be held Monday, September 18 from 7:00 - 8:00p in the Commons, where we would like to invite all girls to join Girl Scouts! During this hour, parents will learn about Girl Scouts from Lynn Wise, a representative from Girl Scouts of Ohio Heartland. The girls who attend will be able to participate in a sample meeting: learning the Girl Scout Promise, songs, games, a craft, and refreshments. There will also be troop leaders and current Girl Scouts from the troops at Wyandot Elementary. Please come and learn more about Girl Scouts!
Hurricane Harvey relief
Residents of Texas continue to deal with Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath. The recovery process will take a very long time. Dublin City Schools will be serving as a funding collection point to help those by impacted by this disaster. The District will be collecting monetary donations that will be sent to the American Red Cross.
If you would like to help contribute to this cause, checks can be made out to Dublin City Schools and be dropped off or mailed to the District's Central Office from now until Friday, Sept. 15.
