District receives grant for clean diesel
The district received a grant of about $58,000 to install Diesel Oxidation Catalyst devices and Closed Crankcase Filtration systems on model year 2002 and 2004 buses.

Of the district's 140 buses, there are not many in the fleet which require this retrofitted equipment. All buses model year 2006 and up come with this equipment already installed.

The equipment will reduction pollutants emitted by these buses by 31.7%. The grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is part of a larger program designed to reduce school bus idling and improve air quality in Ohio.
