Welcome to 4th Grade in Room 112

April 7, 2017
Another busy, yet productive week. Today we had our town hall meeting and our guests were some local Taekwondo Professionals.   Please ask your child about it. Next week we will take the Math AIR test. 5th grade math students will take it on Monday & Tuesday and 4th grade is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.  Headphones are permitted on this test. If you have not sent in a pair with your child, please do so before their test.  We will check to make sure they work with our computers.

Please see this message before from PTO:
The Country Fair is Friday, April 21st! We are very low on volunteers. Please consider helping out for an hour. If your child's class has enough volunteers, please feel free to sign up for a game in another room.  Thank you!

A Glance at This Week...
Math:
We learned how to add and subtract angles.  We also reviewed perimeter, area and converting measurement.  On Thursday, we took the AIR Math Practice Test to get students familiar with the format and online tools.
Social Studies
We talked about Ohio's Early transportation.  We learned about roads, canals, and railways.  We also discussed the Frontier Wars.
Language Arts: In Reading Workshop, we started our historical fiction unit.  In word study we focused on the meanings of prefixes: dis, mis, and anti.  In writing workshop we started our opinion writing unit by looking at mentor articles.  We will start by responding to some prompts next week and then choose a topic for our own essay.
