Spring Book Fair! May 17-26 Spring Book Fair! May 17-26

The Riverside Library will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair from May 17th through May 26th. This book fair is a great way to support reading by building your home library with quality books at a good price. The book fair also raises money to purchase new materials for the Riverside Library, and is a perfect opportunity to stock up on books for summer reading! Your child will have an opportunity to visit the fair during his/her Library day at school.

Families are invited to attend the Scholastic Book Fair during extended hours. Please visit us:

During lunchtime:

May 17th through May 26th 12:00-12:45pm

In the evening:

Monday, May 23rd ONLY 3:30pm-7:00pm

AND for our special Bagels and Books event:

Friday, May 20th 8:00-9:00am

Thank you for supporting the Riverside Book Fair!

Little Free Library Little Free Library

Notice anything new in the Riverside courtyard? It is a Little Free Library, generously donated by Embassy Suites! Its purpose is simple: Take a Book, Return a Book. It is a free book exchange. Students have the opportunity to bring a book from home - one that is in good condition but that they don't plan to read again. They leave this book in the Little Free Library, and take another book out of the Little Free Library to read. They will have a chance to do this exchange during Library time if they have brought a book with them (and also weather-permitting!). Just a few things to remember:

- Students exchange only one book at a time.

- The book must be in good condition and appropriate for elementary students.

- Students must check with their parents before bringing in a book.

Using the Little Free Library is not required, but encouraged. We are so excited to continue to build a community of readers at Riverside!

Fall 2015 Book Fair! Fall 2015 Book Fair!

Students will have an opportunity to shop during their library time, and we will be open for Parent Teacher Conferences on October 7th and 15th. Stay tuned for more information! I look forward to seeing you there.

Welcome back to school! Welcome back to school!
What a delight to see our students' smiling faces back at Riverside! I hope that you all had a wonderful and relaxing summer.

Many of you may have noticed that the library looks a little different than it did last year! I am thrilled to share with our students the new furniture and materials that arrived over the summer. Our purpose has been to develop an atmosphere that promotes creativity, innovation, exploration, flexibility, and choice. I hope that the students will be as excited about our new library space as I am!

I look forward to an inspiring year with our Riverside students and families. As always, please contact me with any questions. Thank you!

Hello Summer! Hello Summer!

June has arrived! It has been a fun and busy year in the Riverside library. As we ease in to summer, please remember to encourage your children to keep reading! The Columbus Metropolitan Library offers an exciting Summer Reading Club with prizes and events, and there are also programs offered by Half Price Books and Barnes & Noble.

In addition, Riverside will host its first Summer Stories program here at the school. Beginning on June 10th, we will host reading events every Wednesday from 10:30-11:30am. There will be special visitors and activities for students, and parents are encouraged to stay for a “Coffee and Conversation” session. Our Summer Stories program will end with a celebration on July 22nd.

I hope that all of you have a wonderful, relaxing summer, and I look forward to seeing you in August (or before!).
