We believe that all students can and must learn at high levels of achievement. It is our job to create an environment in our classrooms that results in this high level of performance. We are confident that, with our support and help, students can master challenging academic material and we expect them to do so. We are prepared to work collaboratively with colleagues, students and parents to achieve this shared educational purpose.

Lost and Found
Our building Lost & Found collection has been growing for some weeks.  If your child is missing any clothing or personal items,  please have him or her stop by the main office to check for those lost items.  Typical belongings in the Lost & Found include coats, sweaters, sweatshirts, shoes, sneakers, boots, and lunch boxes.  All textbooks, notebooks, or other items with name labels are returned to the owner.  Putting names on belongings results in a quick return of misplaced items.  All items not claimed by Friday, February 26, 2010 will be donated to charity.

Veteran's Day Tribute Assembly November 23, 9:00 am
On behalf of the administration, staff, and students we would cordially like to invite  any U.S. Veteran to our annual Veteran’s Tribute Assembly to be held on Monday, November 23, 2009, in Davis Middle School’s gymnasium at 9:00 AM.  Any student or parent of our Davis Middle School family can invite a veteran to attend.  The purpose of the assembly is to recognize all those veterans who have served or are serving the United States and to remember the sacrifice they have made to protect our freedom.  Please make arrangements to attend and invite a veteran.

We would like the students of Davis Middle School to invite any relative, friend, or acquaintance who has served or is serving in the United States military.  At a particular time during the assembly the relatives, friends, or acquaintances who are veterans will be asked to stand and be recognized.  Please be sure that all invited veterans sign in at the designated table prior to the start of the assembly, so that all can be recognized.

Please remember that a “veteran” is anyone who has “served” or is “serving” in the military forces of the United States.  This person did not have to be involved in an armed conflict or war.

Sincerely,
Davis Social Studies Dept.
