National Bullying Prevention Month

October is National Bullying Prevention Month

Dublin City Schools is committed to providing a safe, positive, productive, and nurturing learning environment for its students.

Therefore, harassment, or bullying, of any student, by any person or group of persons, will not be tolerated. The zero-tolerance policy applies to all activities on district property, including school buses, and all activities at school-sponsored or school-related functions such as field trips and athletic events.

Prohibited behaviors include aggressive behavior, physical, verbal and psychological abuse, violence within a dating relationship, and any comments, gestures, threats or actions which cause physical or psychological harm. These prohibited behaviors include cyberbullying, which is defined as an electronic act committed through the use of cell phone, computer, or other personal communication device.

All complaints of harassment, intimidation and/or bullying will be promptly investigated. Prompt and appropriate disciplinary action, which may include suspension or expulsion, will be taken if a report of harassment, intimidation, or bullying is verified. Deliberately making false reports regarding harassment, intimidation and/or bullying will not be tolerated and could result in disciplinary action.

Any student (or student’s parent/guardian) who believes s/he has been or is the victim of harassment, intimidation, or bullying should immediately report the situation to the building principal or assistant principal. The student may also report concerns to teachers and other school staff who will be responsible for notifying the appropriate administrator. Also, anonymous reports of harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying may be made via the district’s website at www.dublinschools.net. Click on the Report Bullying/Harassment link on the upper right-hand side.

The district will provide preventative education for students and staff regarding the district’s zero-tolerance policy and expected behaviors. The complete Bullying and Other Forms of Aggressive Behavior policy is available for download from the district’s website, www.dublinschools.net, by choosing the Board of Education/Policies link on the top horizontal bar.

If you have any questions, please contact your building administrator.
