Here fishy fishy, here fishy fishy! Today is our last fishy Friday. For our final question of the year, the honor goes to Quinn from 6th grade. He asked us the hardest question yet! “Have fish ever evolved from anything since the beginning of time?” Such a philosophical and scientific question. Sadly, we cannot answer this since no one has been alive since the beginning of time. But we suspect, there are some fossils and evidence that is out there…
Our four amazing bass and 3 crayfish will be released to the Scioto river next Saturday. We will surely miss them, but kudos to Daryl the tiny red crayfish for surviving this long! We wish our friends a prosperous life...and if you see them at the end of your pole someday, make sure you set them free.

Cheerleading tryouts for our 7th and 8th grade cheerleading are next week, Monday - Wednesday. If you were not able to attend the meeting, not a problem, we can’t wait to see you Monday. If you’re not certain if you will like cheer, come in Monday—you might just love it!! No need to be nervous, we will place all the athletes on a team!! Students will be bussed from GMS to DJHS at 3:45 pm for the tryouts, parents will pick up students at DJHS at 6:30. Today and tomorrow are Student Council Officer elections. Follow the link on Schoology posted by your Social Studies teacher to vote. Select one candidate each for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Next fall everyone is welcome to run for their Student Council team representative. Thank you all for your vote to choose next year’s student leaders.
School is almost over! If you have extra pens, pencils, markers, crayons, erasers, glue, scissors, paper, notebooks, dividers, or other new or gently used school supplies, Girl Scout Troop 2823 is offering the opportunity to donate the supplies. Turn your supplies into the boxes around the school. CMAA Refugee Services will donate these supplies to refugees around Columbus. For more information, look for signs around the School.

Attention all students and teachers! Dark Day is coming!
The 6th grade 8th Period B Day students from Mrs. Brauzer’s Cog. Ed. class have created a project called “Dark Day.” Dark Day is a day where all lights and all energy sources (with a few exceptions) will be turned off to try and save energy and money. Dark Day will be tomorrow, Tuesday, May 16th. Teachers can decide whether or not flashlights will be permitted in their classrooms. Attention world travelers: Mr. Hull invites you to join next year’s field trip to Greece and Italy. The high school's Teen Institute clubs will be having an end of the year picnic at Coffman Park on May 23rd from 5-9pm. Any 8th graders interested in TI are invited to attend! There will be food and games and is always sure to be a great time!
